In Tarifa, facing the imposing Jebel Musa, I had the chance to film one of the most special projects of my career. Alongside a talented dancer and actress, we created a piece where dance, history, and landscape come together to honor one of the most magical and symbolic places on Earth.
We chose La Caleta as our location — a place full of energy, with Africa within reach and the Strait as our natural stage. With Musa towering on the horizon, we filmed under the constant pressure of a rapidly setting sun, working with precision and maximum focus to capture the best light of the day.
To bring this story to life, I used high-end Nikon cameras, switching between telephoto lenses for intimate close-ups of the dancer's movements and wide-angle lenses to open up the frame and showcase the majesty of the landscape. The result is a visual dialogue between the delicate expression of the dancer and the eternal grandeur of Musa.
We also incorporated drone footage to give the film an epic dimension. From the sky, we revealed the perfect connection between Tarifa, the sea, and Africa, capturing the full scale of this legendary site that has inspired myths and symbols throughout history.
The video revolves around the idea that "Musa" is not just a mountain, but a muse — a true source of inspiration. Its story is woven into Greek and Roman mythology, where Hercules, son of Zeus, is said to have moved it with his own hands, leaving marks still visible today. Musa also appears on the imperial coat of arms of Charles I of Spain, in the dollar symbol, and as a universal meeting point between continents.
With Africa behind it and Tarifa in its gaze, Musa is more than a landscape. It's a place where worlds converge, where adventures begin, where stories are born and end. And we told its story through dance, camera in hand, under the final golden light of day.
